GFN's Antonio Gómez will present our work on the energy system of El Salvador at the 5th Latin-American Energy Economics Conference in Medellín, Colombia.
The Numerical Fluid Dynamics group, together with BSH Electrodomésticos and other research groups, has obtained funding from the Spanish Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad to advise BSH on clean and safe combustion technologies for domestic, stove-top burners.
Under the three-year project RETOS-COLABORACIÓN RTC-2014–1847–6, GFN will be developing for BSH advanced techniques for the accurate simulation of combustion and pollutant formation in household, stove-top gas burners.
GFN's Dr Ana Cubero will present the group's latest developments in the field of numerical simulation of Fluidized Bed Combustors at SPEIC14.
SPEIC14 is an international meeting on sustainable combustion jointly organized by the Portuguese and Spanish sections of The Combustion Institute. It will take place in Lisbon, from 14-17 Nov 2015.
GFN researchers will be advising the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of El Salvador on the likely impact on the electricity tariff of alternative, future options for power generation in El Salvador.
As a part of the transition to a more diversified, modern economy, the Government of El Salvador is studing options for increasing the competitiveness of its industrial sector by improving the affordability and stability of electricity tariffs.

GFN will participate at the NETL Small Scale Challenge Problem (SSCP-I), a blind test for fluidized beds models released by the US Department of Energy's (DOE) National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL).
The purpose of SSCP-I is to improve the reliability of computational models using experimental measurements in a small scale fluidized bed.
GFN will be attending the 36th IAEE International Conference that will be held in Daegu, Korea on June 16–20, 2013. The conference theme is Energy Transition and Policy Challenges, and GFN's Norberto Fueyo will be delivering a paper co-authored with economists from the Asian Development Bank entitled Energy Security, Sustainability and Affordability in Developing Asia 2010–2035: A Quantitative Analysis
GFN will be present at the FLEXI BURN CFB Workshop in Ponferrada, Spain on Feb 6th.
The FLEXI BURN CFB project aims to develop and demonstrate a power plant concept based on the Circulating Fluidized Bed (CFB) technology combined with Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS).
The workshop will provide an overview of the current status of CCS development by keynote speaker Stanley Santos (Project Manager, IEAGHG). The Introduction of FLEXI BURN CFB project is followed by the overview of the final results.

GFN is back to Lucerne!
In 2010 GFN presented at the European SOFC Forum the first results of an emerging research line on the numerical simulation of Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFC). Two years later, we will be back at the Forum to show how this research line has evolved and consolidated.
