Wave energy

Wave energy is the conversion into electricity of the kinetic and potential energy of the waves. The first wave energy converter was patented in France in 1799, however, the slow technology development and its high costs have caused that major projects haven't been carried out in recent years.

Wave energy potential and production cost are calculated by using high resolution bathymetry data.

The production cost, installed power and the needed area in order to achieve a specific energy potential are also assessed for wave energy. Higher potential sites are located.
