Solar thermoelectric energy

Solar thermal energy uses the sun's radiation to generate electricity by heating a thermal fluid and using a steam turbine cycle. The used technologies are parabolic troughs, power tower systems and Stirling energy systems.



Climate influence in solar thermoelectric energy production is studied for all of the energy production technologies:

  • Parabolic troughs.
  • Power tower systems.
  • Stirling energy systems.

An economic analysis is carried out for each technology.


Georreferenced dara about capacity and cost production for each thermoelectric generation technology is obtained. The lowest production cost sites are located as well as the better production technology according to the available resources.
